Raiders add recruit to list
Southern Oregon head football coach Steve Helminiak announced Friday that Long Beach Poly's Juwan Brown has signed a national letter of intent to play football for the Raiders in the Fall.
Brown (5-10, 270) was a starting defensive lineman for perennial national power Jackrabbits.
"This is a huge signing for us," Helminiak said.
"Juwan is a high-level athlete and comes from a program that has a long tradition and expects to win. He should make an immediate impact for us."
Last year, Long Beach Poly went 14-1 and finished the season ranked second in the Southern Section, third in the state of California and 15th in the Nation.
Brown finished third on the team with 100 tackles and a sack.
With the addition of Brown, the Raiders have signed seven high school seniors and three transfers to play for SOU in 2009.
