Raiders wrap up nearly perfect dual season

The fifth-ranked Southern Oregon wrestling team rolled to a 53-0 rout of Pacific University Saturday night in the final dual of the season.

Southern Oregon capped the season with an 18-1 record in dual meets. The 18 wins are a school record and are the most in the NAIA. Pacific dropped to 1-12.

The Raiders opened the dual with back-to-back pins by the Lofstedt brothers, Mitchell and Trevor.

Mitchell Lofstedt scored a pin of John Cushman in 1:06 at 125 pounds, while Trevor came away with a pin of Andrew Wolfe in 23 seconds at 133.

Junior Valladolid then pinned Andy Duncan in 4:09 at 141 to push the lead to 18-0.

After a forfeit at 149, Seth Roy (157) and Austin Vanderford (165) scored back-to-back decisions, and Tyler Thomas scored a tech fall at 174 to up the lead to 41-0. SOU senior Chase Locke pinned Jordan Branson in 4:35 at 197 to wrap up the action for a Raider team that won three matches by forfeit.

SOU will next compete in the NAIA West Regionals, slated next Saturday in Atherton, Calif.
