SALEM — The best 3-point shooting team in the Cascade Conference got a little better Friday night in one of its best road shows from beyond the arc in at least a couple decades.

Dex Daum hit five 3-pointers, Kyle Tedder hit four and the Southern Oregon University men's basketball team collectively hit 16 of 28 in its 84-60 win over Corban at the C.E. Jeffers Center.

Daum, who was off on one 3-point attempt, led four players in double figures for the 14th-ranked Raiders (19-5 overall, 8-4 CCC), who moved back into second place in the conference standings with Concordia's loss at College of Idaho.

Eric Thompson went 6-for-9 from the floor, making his only try from downtown, on his way to 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Jeff Bush (12 points, six assists, four rebounds) and Tim Weber (seven points, six assists, five rebounds) went a combined 4-for-5 from outside.

The Raiders have made exactly 16 3-pointers five times in the last two seasons but hadn't hit that many away from Ashland since head coach Brian McDermott took over in 1996.

The Warriors (6-14, 2-9) lost their ninth straight and were swept in the season series against SOU. Four players scored in double figures for them — Jordan Carter (18), Josiah Sebens (13), Toby Roth (13) and Caleb Herzberg — but they got a combined six points out of everyone else.

The Raiders' 57.1-percent clip from outside matched their accuracy from the field, where they went 32-for-56.

They extended their lead to 41-20 in the first half with an 18-4 run that included four 3-pointers without a miss from Tedder, Weber, Thompson and Daum.

Their lead expanded to 68-40 in the second. When Corban cut into that with 13 unanswered points, Tedder fueled an 8-2 run with two more triples.

Jacob Kaler added two 3s off the bench. Reserve Jordan West had six points on 3-for-4 shooting.

The Raiders also limited their turnover total to seven, giving them 12 over the last two games.

In SOU's last four games Daum is 15-for-29 from the field, including a 9-for-14 mark from 3, and averaging 13.5 points.

They'll travel today to Northwest Christian in search of a series split. Corban will host Oregon Tech and try to deny coach Danny Miles his 1,000th win.

Women's Basketball

Southern Oregon moved up the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings by holding off the Corban Warriors and scoring a critical 83-74 road win Friday night.

Allison Gida led the Raiders offensively for the fourth time in six games with 20 points and seven rebounds. Autumn Durand added 19 points, four rebounds and four assists.

With the victory, the Raiders improved to 18-6 overall and 7-5, and avenged an 82-79 loss to Corban on Jan. 4. They and the Warriors (11-13, 6-6) were part of a three-way tie for fifth place entering the night, one game out of a three-way tie for second.

Trailing by 13 with six minutes left, Corban went on a 17-7 run and cut it to 77-74 with 80 seconds left on Kelli Christenson's 3-pointer. Carly Meister responded with a basket-and-one on a dish from Kristen Schoenherr on the other end, and Claussen hit four straight free throws to seal it.

Wrestling

At Atherton, Calif., upper weights came through big again for the Southern Oregon University wrestling team, nailing down three straight pins to secure the Raiders' 28-12 win Friday night at 18th-ranked Menlo.

The seventh-ranked Raiders led 10-9 when top-ranked Brock Gutches (174 pounds), 14th-ranked Jacob Abrams (184) and top-ranked Taylor Johnson (197) won by fall consecutively.

SOU moved to 7-3 overall, thereby securing its 44th consecutive winning season.

"We wrestled well," SOU coach Mike Ritchey said. "We need to intensify in the weights we lost, but overall it was good practice for regionals."

Gutches, who is 21-3 and still perfect in dual action, got to Paul Bracamonte in 1:43. Abrams pinned Tim Hollowell in 4:00 to improve to 11-8. Johnson, who took care of Martin Gonzalez in 5:08, is now 6-0 in duals with four pins and a technical fall and 11-4 overall.

Women's Softball

At La Mirada, Calif., Biola didn't give the Southern Oregon University softball team any time to settle into the 2014 season in a sweep of the openers for both teams Friday afternoon.

The Eagles, who were picked to finish third in the Golden State Athletic Conference, jumped on the Raiders in first inning of both games and pocketed two 9-1 wins. Vanessa Coleman started a two-run first with an RBI single in Game 1, and CeCe Luster smacked a three-run homer to start Game 2 and was credited with two wins on the mound.

Luster went 5-for-7 on the day and scored twice in the opener.

She also totaled 61/3 innings on the mound, allowing five hits with six strikeouts. The Eagles scored seven runs in the final three innings of Game 1 and seven in the first three of the nightcap.

Bria Madrid busted it open with a two-run double in the third. She was a nuisance all day from the leadoff spot, registering four hits and scoring four times.

Sydney White took the first loss for the Raiders but allowed just three earned runs in five innings of work. In Game 2, Karlie Stephens got through 52/3 in relief of Cheyenne Bricker and gave up five earned.

Biola outhit SOU 24-7 in all.
