SOU takes down Great Falls

After going 1-1 on Thursday at the Biola Summer Slam, No. 18 Southern Oregon (2-1) got back on the winning side Friday, defeating Great Falls (Mont.) (1-2) in three sets at La Mirada, California.

Senior setter Lauren McGowne had 29 assists, five digs and four blocks and Raiders held the Argos to an attacking average of .000, leading to their second sweep in as many days (25-15, 25-16, 25-8).

SOU's match against ninth-ranked Vanguard was completed after press deadlines.

The Raiders established a season-best attacking average of .329, assisting 37 of its 38 kills. They were led by redshirt-freshman hitter Taylor Ristvedt’s nine kills, junior middle Courtney Macklin’s seen kills and senior middle Emma Gasman’s nine. Libero Kliey Barcroft and defensive specialist Ashley Flynn tallied 11 and 10 digs, respectively.

Outside hitter Madison Wilhelm led the Argos with eight kills.

The Raiders next face Hope International on Monday.
