Beltz, Rosero selected CCC Athletes of the Week

Southern Oregon swept the Cascade Conference's Red Lion Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors Monday, with leaper Zach Beltz and sprinter Chris Rosero attracting the necessary votes after their performances at the Raider Invitational.

Beltz, the senior All-American from Elmira, broke his own Raider long jump record Saturday by going 25 feet inches, the top mark in the NAIA this season. That was after he hit the NAIA 'A' standard Friday in the triple jump at 49-7 , which shot him to No. 2 on both the national performance list and in the Raider record book. He also ran the 100-meter dash in a personal-best 10.95 seconds, the fourth-fastest time in the Cascade Conference this season.

Rosero, a junior from Redding, Calif., now owns the CCC's top spots in the 100 and 200 in his first season with the Raiders. He logged new bests in both races Saturday, topping a 32-person field in the 100 in 10.79 seconds and a 29-person field in the 200 in 21.75.

The Raiders will return to action this week, Thursday and Friday at the CCC Multi-Events Championships and Saturday at the Lane Invitational. They'll be home again for the CCC Championships on May 10-11.
