Friday Night Football Preview: North Medford vs. South Medford
The crosstown rivalry between North and South Medford meets up for the 35th time on Friday night.
Both teams are 3-1 on the season and are tied atop the 6-A Special District 7.
The Black Tornado offense is led by senior quarterback Colby Neron and a trio of wideouts who have each proven to be a scoring test, plus a rushing game led by Devin Bradd.
Meanwhile, South Medford has a trio of running backs who have punished defenses this Spring. They each average over six yards per carry this season.
It should be an interesting match-up that shows two different offensive styles.
North Medford is dangerous and can score quickly, while also slowing the temp on the ground. South Medford can eat up the clock, run through defenders and create long scoring drives that may limit their opponent’s chances on offense.
Both teams have also played three of the same opponents, so there is plenty of game film to prepare from.
This is the second to last game on both team’s schedules. Since they sit tied atop the 6-A Special District 7, this game means a ton. Especially considering there is no postseason this spring.
The crosstown rivals meet up on Friday night at Spiegelberg Stadium, with kickoff at 7 p.m.
