Pond Art

A couple of years ago the Tidings ran a story about the dried-up Mill Pond Community.

Now the pond has been restored. Residents, ducks and salamanders enjoy the water, and surrounding lawns, just as before.

Partly to celebrate the restoration of the Pond, and partly to showcase the many artists who live near it, Mill Pond is holding a community Art Show.

On Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., on the lawn around the Pond, the Mill Pond Community will present an Art Show.

Two dozen, or more, present and former Mill Ponders will display their creative talents ranging from jewelry, sculpture, photography, fiber art, books, paintings, decorated cookies, garden arrangements, and poetry. Some artists will offer items for sale.

The community is on North Wightman Street, off East Main, across from the new National Guard Armory. In case of rain on Oct. 7, the show will be Oct. 14. Free refreshments will be available.

Many artists have designated one piece to be sold by Silent Auction, proceeds going to help pay for the costs of restoring the Pond, for which the community was named.

Everyone is welcome to come see our Pond, and our artistic creations.
