Bad Film Society gets spooky

The public is invited to The Bad Film Society's Halloween Soiree on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m., downstairs at the Ashland Elks.

The night will be dedicated to the composer of great soundtracks for crappy Roger Corman horror films, Ronald Stein. Ashland resident, Hollie Stein will share memories of her father. Excerpts from his films will be screened including "Dinosaurus," "The Undead," "Spider Baby," "The Terror," "Dementia 13" and "Psych-Out" with Jack Nicholson.

The feature film will be the absurd classic "Attack Of The 50 Foot Woman" with a soundtrack by Ronald Stein. The ads said, "See a female colossus"&

166;her mountainous torso, skyscraper limbs, giant desires." Transparent bald aliens in search of diamonds to power their spaceship, turn a wealthy, jewelry loving woman into a giant. Doctors chain her in the house and give her injections with an elephant syringe. But she breaks out and heads for the bar where her cheating husband is smooching and plotting with Yvette Vickers (Playboy's Miss July 1959). No happy ending here.

Stay tuned for the lucky thirteenth chapter of the 1941 serial, "Jungle Girl." What trouble will that hot gal get into next. See terrific vine-swinging, cliff-diving, croc-wrestling, dorky gorillas, and of course, an evil witch doctor.

Kindly bring a ghoulish treat for the potluck dinner before the feature. Some bottom feeders just come for the great food. And, of course, wear a costume"&

166;or not.

Also, unload your trashy videos for door prizes in our humiliating and hilarious raffle. Loads o'fun.
