Mevlevi Order of America performs Ayni Cem
St. Clair Productions presents the Mevlevi Order of America, under the direction of Postneshin Jelaluddin Loras, performing Ayni Cem. With Whirling Dervishes, music from Turkey and the poetry of Rumi, the show takes place at the Ashland Middle School Commons, 100 Walker Ave., Ashland, on Monday, Dec. 11, 7:30 p.m.
Tickets for the event are $18 in advance, $20 at the door, $10 for teens 12-17 and free for under 12 with a paying adult.

Musicians for this performance are from Turkey with Necati Celik on oud, Arif Bicer on vocals and ney, Ahmet Erdogdular on vocals and frame drum,Talia Marcus on violin and viola, Andrea Walls on violin, Nooriddin Crammatte-Kudum on clay pot drums, and from the U.S., Chris Henke on ney. The Semazens,Whirling Dervishes, are from various cities on the West Coast.
Ayni Cem, Ayni Jem, is a gathering of musicians and semazens for sacred music and dance. The dance is the moving meditation and prayer of the Whirling Dervishes, the Sufi Mystics who follow the teachings of Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi.
Marcus is a classically trained violinist and composer with more than 100 credits.
