'Tracy's Tiger' topic of OSF talk
The Oregon Shakespeare Festival Noon Lecture series on Saturday, March 31 will feature a talk by OSF guest dramaturg and playwright Douglas Langworthy entitled "The Trouble with Tigers: On Making Tracy's Tiger." Tracy's Tiger is a world premiere musical co-written by Langworthy, Penny Metropulos, Linda Alper and Sterling Tinsley, based on a novella by William Saroyan, which opens Saturday evening, March 31 at 8 p.m. in OSF's New Theatre.
Langworthy has been an OSF company member or guest dramaturg for nine seasons, and his literal translation of Durrenmatt's "The Visit" (adapted by Kenneth Albers) played in 2004. He also translated Brecht's "The Good Person of Szechuan" for OSF.
