SnoCore 2009 at the Medford Armory
Static-X and Saliva co-headline SnoCore 2009, a touring festival that features a winter lifestyle fair and live music — an integrated marketing experience. The tour kicked off April 1 in Albuquerque, N.M., and will make a stop Friday, May 8, at the Medford Armory, 1701 S. Pacific Highway. Other bands with the tour are Burn Halo and The Flood.
The doors will open at 6 p.m. and Static-X will perform at 9:30 p.m.
Industrial metal machine Static-X will bludgeon, bruise and break with shredding guitar solos by guitarist Koichi Fukuda, bolting bass lines by Tony Campo, pounding rhythms by drummer Nick Oshiro and screaming vocals by front man Wayne Static.
The band's 2009 album, "Cult of Static" on Reprise Records, brings out the group's aggressive style and its disarming experimentation. It's single, "Stingwray" — inspired by Static's wife Tera Wray and the Corvette Stringray she drives — is now on the airwaves.
Fans of anti-hero action films may be familiar with "Lunatic," another single on the album. It was included on the sound track for the 2008 film "Punisher: War Zone." The album cut was re-recorded to include a solo by Megadeth's Dave Mustaine.
Since Static-X's 1999 debut, "Wisconsin Death Trip," the group has sold more than three million records and completed many heavy metal and hard rock world tours, including The Family Values Tour, Gigantour and three with Ozzfest.
