Acousta Noir at Oberon's
Joshua Esterline, aka Acousta Noir is a one-man band with a banjo or guitar, a kick-drum and his voice. The songwriter describes his music as dark acoustic, trying to embody the lifestyle of his hometown of Roseburg.
Esterline's extensive background includes singing, playing guitar and drumming for various punk bands, and he infuses those sounds and aesthetics into the traditional folk and country influences that build the foundation for his own music. Up-tempo songs such as "When the World Explodes" become equal parts Bad Religion and Woodie Guthrie.
Acousta Noir will play at 8 p.m. Friday, May 23, at Oberon's Three Penny Tavern, 45 N. Main St., Ashland. There is no cover for the show.
