Rogue Valley Symphony's concerts take listeners to China and Persia

The symphony, conducted by Martin Majkut, will present Russian composer Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade,” American composer John Adams’ “The Chairman Dances” and pianist Jeffrey Biegel, who will present a solo performance of Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto.

Concerts will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, in the Music Recital Hall on the Southern Oregon University campus, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland; 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Craterian Theater, 23 S. Central Ave, Medford; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, at the Grants Pass Performing Arts Center, 830 N.E. Ninth St., Grants Pass.

Conductor Majkut will present pre-concert talks one hour before each performance.

Tickets cost $33, $38, $44 and $50 for the Ashland show; $28, $33, $38 and $44 for the Medford show; and $20, $28 and $34 for the Grants Pass show. Student tickets cost $5 at all shows.
