'Wierd Al' Yankovic plays Britt Festivals in September
Britt Festivals makes the first announcement of its 2015 lineup, with a Sept. 2 performance by the biggest-selling comedy recording artist in history, “Weird Al” Yankovic. The concert is being announced early, as part of a national tour announcement for Yankovic's “Mandatory World Tour.”
“Weird Al” Yankovic has won three Grammys and countless other awards for his parody classics such as “Eat It,” “Like a Surgeon,” “Smells like Nirvana” and “Amish Paradise.” Last summer, his 14th studio album "Mandatory Fun" debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, the first time a comedy album has debuted at No. 1 in history.
On Spotify, Yankovic set the U.S. record for having the most tracks from one album in the viral top 10 at one time, taking the first four spots. The Grammy-nominated album features parodies of some of the biggest hits of the past year, including Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” (“Tacky”), Lorde’s “Royals” (“Foil”), Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” (“Handy”) and Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” (“Inactive”).
Ticket sales for Yankovic’s tour begin nationally this month, including his concert at Britt in Jacksonville. Member sales begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27. General public sales for lawn tickets only will be available online at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30. General public sales for reserved seats begins Friday, May 15.
