Benefit concert set for World Peace Flame

A benefit concert to raise money to bring the World Peace Flame to Southern Oregon University will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Historic Ashland Armory.

The music will feature Sol Seed, Craig Wright & Friends, Evening Shades, Southwest Royal and Artists formerly from the State of Jefferson.

The show will also offer products from local artists, glassblowers, food trucks and craft beer and wine.

Tickets are $15 in advance through www.liveatthearmory.com, or $20 at the door.

On Sept. 21, the International Day of Peace, the World Peace Flame will be lit in Thalden Pavilion at SOU’s Center for Sustainability. A delegation from the World Peace Flame Foundation will come to Ashland for the lighting ceremony, together with state and city dignitaries.

The symbol of peace, unity, freedom and celebration aims to inspire people everywhere that the individual plays a crucial role in creating peace at every level, according to a statment from the Ashland Culture of Peace Commission (ashlandcpc.org).

Donations in any amount are requested for completion of the monument. For more information, go to www.gofundme.com/worldpeaceflameashland or contact David Wick at davidwick.acpc@gmail.com or 541-552-1061.

Sol Seed is the headliner for the Saturday, Aug. 18, Peace Flame fundraiser at the Historic Ashland Armory.
