Flavor brings global cuisine to Medford
Flavor Restaurant, which describes itself as a Global Kitchen, recently opened its doors in downtown Medford on West Main Street. The building is painted white with a dark brown trim and is nestled in a cozy neighborhood.
The inside of the building repeats the clean white walls with dark brown accents. In the main dining room, an upholstered banquette spans the width of the dining room and provides comfortable seating. Art work on the walls reflects the simple, soothing atmosphere. The restaurant also features an extensive cocktail and drink menu which makes it a good choice for before dinner cocktails with friends.
The concept of the restaurant is to provide dishes from a variety of cultures — Filipino Chicken Adobe, Chinese Chicken Salad, Indian Chicken Biryani, Hawaiian Slow Cooked Pork, British Fish and Chips, Japanese Yaki Udon, American Mac N Cheese and much more. For a small restaurant, the size and diversity of the menu was quite impressive.
I decided to try Filipino Chicken Adobe ($11) which was chicken marinated overnight in a soy sauce marinade over a bed of saffron rice. The dish also came with shoestring potatoes tossed with a spicy marinade.
The chicken was tasty and moist. The shoestring potatoes were addictive. I could have eaten a bucket of the potatoes.
My friend opted for the Lamb Curry ($10.50) cooked with onions, garlic and ginger in a rich, spiced sauce. The dish also came with sweet potato fries which were also quite tasty.
For dessert, we decided to share a Molten Chocolate Lava Cake ($7). A small chocolate cupcake was heated up in the microwave. The gooey chocolate inside of the cupcake was warm and very tasty.
The restaurant is located at 1213 W. Main St., Medford. They are open Monday through Sunday from 11a.m. to 9 p.m. Off street parking is available in the front parking lot and in lot behind the restaurant.
The restaurant can provide outdoor catering for parties, weddings, meetings, conferences and more. Events for 25-30 guests can be held at the restaurant. For reservations or questions, contact the restaurant at 541-500-8744.
