ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum: A variety of interactive science exhibits are available at ScienceWorks Hands-on Museum, 1500 E. Main St., Ashland. The museum, which recently readjusted its hours, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, and visits will be ticketed in two-hour shifts. Many exhibits will be modified to reduce touch surfaces — fewer hands-on activities —and increase physical distancing. Masks will be required for visitors ages 5 and up, and recommended for children ages 2 through 4. Staff and volunteers will be masked. History Presentation: Tom Smith, a Native American elder, will present, “Ancient Trails: Exploring the Lifeways of First Nations People in North America,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the Jacksonville Community Center, 160 E. During the all-ages presentation, Smith will address the varied Native Americans nations and cultural traditions found in the Rogue Valley, while talking about hunting and gathering methods, families, Warrior Society and honor code, as well as leadership roles. Additionally, Smith will show a display of artifacts which he has created, including traditional tools, weapons, beadwork and weaving.
