Low-cost Pet Vaccines: Make an appointment for your pet to get vaccinated and licensed at the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S. Pacific Highway, Phoenix, Saturday, Oct. 17. This drive-thru clinic is open to dogs and cats, as well as puppies and kittens. Vaccinations available for dogs are rabies and distemper/parvo booster. Vaccinations available for cats are rabies and distemper/rhino/calici booster. No nail trimming done. Pet owners must call the shelter by Friday, Oct. 16, to schedule. Distemper/parvo vaccinations are $15 each; rabies vaccinations are $10 each. License fees vary based on the dog’s neuter/spay status, and discounts are available for veterans and seniors. This is a cash-only clinic, with the exception of license fees, and all pets must be in good health. Pets that are on antibiotics, in heat or on cortisone products cannot be vaccinated. ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum: A variety of interactive science exhibits are available at ScienceWorks Hands-on Museum, 1500 E. Main St., Ashland. The museum, which recently readjusted its hours, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, and visits will be ticketed in two-hour shifts. Many exhibits will be modified to reduce touch surfaces — fewer hands-on activities —and increase physical distancing. Masks will be required for visitors ages 5 and up, and recommended for children ages 2 through 4. Staff and volunteers will be masked. Peter Alexander Stone: Peter Alexander Stone and Art & Soul Gallery will present a concert, “A Healing Sound,” from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at Art & Soul Gallery, 247 E. Main St., Ashland, and livestreamed via YouTube, to raise funds for the social change-social justice organization MRG Foundation and its Rogue Valley Relief Fund/ Fondo de Ayuda para Rogue Valley. Those attending the event in person are encouraged to bring yoga props to create their own personal “nest.” Masks will be worn while arriving and departing, but will not be mandatory during the event as generous social distancing practices will be in place. Nightmare Chamber Haunted House: This year’s theme for Randall Theatre’s horror haunt is “The Return of the Family,” themed after the 2017 hit “The Family,” which sported a group of inbred cannibals who trapped unwary travelers in their underground labyrinth, where they hunted them for sport — and food. The haunt runs from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays, Oct. 16- 25, and Tuesday through Sunday, Oct. 27-Nov. 1, at 10 E. Third St. in downtown Medford.
