What's happening at local art galleries: Dec. 18

American Trails: The gallery, located in the Columbia Hotel, 250 E. Main St., Ashland, features art and crafts of the indigenous peoples in North and South America. The gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday. Masks are required and hand sanitation will be offered at the door. See americantrails.com or call 541-482-2553.

Art du Jour Gallery: See exhibits by 17 local artists in myriad mediums such as watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, pen & ink, Conté crayon, collage, sculpture, photography, mixed media and more. See displays of work by featured artists Susie Lee and Millie Clarke through Dec. 31. The gallery, located at 213 E. Main St., Medford, will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Private viewings are available outside open business hours by reservation. Masks are required to visit the gallery. Art & Soul Gallery: See the exhibit “Cradles Rock,” featuring mini oil and watercolor paintings by local artists Jenay Elder, Charlotte Peterson and Judy Richardson. The exhibit will be on display through Jan. 2. The gallery, at 247 E. Main St., Ashland, will be open from noon to 5 p.m., Thursdays through Saturdays and by appointment. Art Presence Art Center: Thirty-six regional artists will be featured in the gallery’s annual exhibit “Angel Show,” which features artists’ interpretations of angels in a variety of mediums, along with the “Season of Cheer” holiday exhibit to be displayed through January. The art show will be available virtually this year as the gallery is closed in compliance with COVID-19 restrictions. Ashland Art Works: See the work of local artists in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, woodwork, fiber arts and garden art. The art collective, at 291 Oak St., Ashland, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Gallerie Karon: The gallery, located at 500 A St., Suite 1, Ashland, features vintage textiles and jewelry, antiques, art and furnishings. The gallery will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Masks are required to visit the gallery, and hand sanitation will be available. Hanson Howard Gallery: The gallery, located at 89 Oak St., Ashland, features works in an array of mediums including painting, sculpture, ceramics and fine art prints. See the end of year Gallery Artists Salon in the feature gallery. An exhibit of original new work by Betty LaDuke will be on display. All proceeds from the sales of LaDuke’s print, “Awakening,” will be donated to three Rogue Valley organizations working to assist Rogue Valley farmworkers who lost their homes to the Almeda fire. The gallery will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and by appointment. Masks are required to visit the gallery, and hand sanitation will be available. Houston’s Custom Framing and Fine Art: The gallery, located at 280 E. Hersey St #11, Ashland, will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and by appointment. Masks are required and hand sanitation will be offered at the door. Call 541-482-1983.

Rogue Gallery & Art Center: The gallery, at 40 S. Bartlett St., Medford, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. See the annual members exhibit “20/20 Hindsight,” in Main Gallery through Dec. 22. The Community gallery will feature works by the gallery’s staff members, “Winter’s Tale” through Dec. 22. Schneider Museum of Art: Because of COVID-19 restrictions, Southern Oregon University’s Schneider Museum of Art will be closed until further notice. The museum will offer online programming such as the winter exhibition (available in January and February 2021) and virtual exhibitions with live artists, and scholar Zoom talks and workshops. The Schneider also will offer Free Family Art Days with curbside kit pickup for materials and an accompanying online instructional video.
