American Trails: The gallery, located in the Columbia Hotel, 250 E. Main St., Ashland, features art and crafts of the indigenous peoples in North and South America. Art du Jour Gallery: See exhibits by 17 local artists in myriad mediums such as watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, pen & ink, Conté crayon, collage, sculpture, photography, mixed media and more. See the painting exhibit, “No Walls,” by featured artist Jeanne LaRae, on view through May 31. The gallery, located at 213 E. Art & Soul Gallery: The gallery’s May’s featured exhibit, “Fresh Paint” by Jenay Elder, featuring acrylic and oil paintings exploring spring and new beginnings, will be on display through May 30. The gallery, which features art in a variety of mediums by regional artists, located at 247 E. Main St., Ashland, will be open from noon to 5 p.m., Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays, and by appointment. Masks are required by visitors. Art Presence Art Center: The gallery is located at 206 N. Fifth St., Jacksonville, and will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The gallery’s May exhibit “Petlandia,” on view through Sunday, May 30, showcases artwork donated by member artists featuring images of animals and pets. The proceeds from these pieces will benefit C.A.T.S. From 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday May 16, C.A.T.S. personnel will be at the gallery with kittens available for adoption. Local author and publisher Ginna Gordon will discuss memoir writing with Christin Lore Weber at 5 p.m. Friday, May 28, via Zoom. Ashland Art Works: See the work of local artists in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, woodwork, fiber arts and garden art. The art collective, at 291 Oak St., Ashland, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Sundays. The galley will host artists who will give demonstrations and workshops from 10 a.m. to noon the second Saturday of each month. Masks are required to visit the gallery. Center for the Visual Arts: New spring exhibits featuring student artists will be displayed through Friday, May 21, in the windows of the Art and Marion Ady buildings, corner of Siskiyou Boulevard and Indiana Street, at Southern Oregon University in Ashland. Look for Chella Foster’s pine pitch sculpture work “The Practise Of Surviving” in the windows of the Thorndike Gallery, and Kaya Doolaege’s photographic work “Mother” in the windows of the Meyer Memorial Gallery. Gallerie Karon: Gallerie Karon is moving from its current place at 500 A St., Suite #1, to 300 E. Main St., Ashland. The gallery features vintage textiles and jewelry, antiques, art and furnishings. Grants Pass Museum of Art: Originally known as Gallery One, the museum, located at 229 S.W. G St., Grants Pass, features work by local and regional artists and will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, and by appointment. Hanson Howard Gallery: The gallery, located at 89 Oak St., Ashland, features works in an array of mediums including painting, sculpture, ceramics and fine art prints. Mixed-media sculptures by John and Robin Gumaelius, and paintings by Robert Koch will be featured through June 26. Houston’s Custom Framing and Fine Art: The gallery, located at 280 E. Hersey St #11, Ashland, will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and by appointment. Rogue Gallery & Art Center: The gallery, at 40 S. Bartlett St., Medford, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. See the collection of juried quilts in the exhibit “Habitat,” which features fiber art by Studio Art Quilt Associates, on display through June 18. Displayed works demonstrate the artists’ mastery of the fiber medium, as well as the inventive ways they interpret the exhibit them of “Habitat.” Also see the watercolor painting display “Bloomin’ Beautiful” by Charlotte Peterson in the Community Gallery through June 25. Schneider Museum of Art: Southern Oregon University’s Schneider Museum of Art has reopened for in-person viewing with the exhibit “Collecting Cuba: Selections from the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art,” on display from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, through July 1. The exhibition is presented in collaboration with the Ashland Independent Film Festival and curated by Jill Hartz. Admission is free; donations accepted. Studio 151: The art studio, located at 151 N. Pioneer St., Ashland, features mixed-media sculptural artwork by Elizabeth York. See a series of work investigating time, wall relief Buddhas and a variety of sculptural animals and birds. The studio is open by appointment only. All proceeds from York’s artwork will support Shine a Light, a nonprofit organization committed to raising awareness about preventing and rehabilitating victims of sex trafficking both locally and abroad. First Friday Art Walk: The Ashland Gallery Association has canceled all First Friday Art Walks in downtown Ashland and its Railroad District until further notice. Individual galleries may still be open with safety measures in place. For more information, see ashlandgalleries.com
Native American cultural presentation: The Jacksonville Community Center has postponed the presentation “The Eagle Staff and Ceremonial Traditions in Native Communities” by Tom Smith and Hannah Stafford, which was scheduled for Friday, May 14. Ashland Folk Collective: The local folk music collective has postponed its Folk Festival until February 2022. The organization is planning to host their summer series outdoor concerts at Fry Family Farm beginning in June, with limited capacity in compliance with COVID-19 restrictions. Oregon Oldtime Fiddlers, District 4: Because of COVID-19, the local fiddlers district has canceled its Saturday jam schedule. Organizers hope to resume the public jams as soon as restrictions allow. Call 541-779-8145 or see ootfa4.org.

The Rogue Valley Bike Swap: The annual Ashland event will take a different form this year. Ashland Parks and Recreation will team up with the Rogue Valley Transportation District to collect donated bikes to be distributed to local organizations with the aim of getting bikes in the hands of those affected by the Almeda fire, veterans and low-income people. To donate a bike, drop by the parking lot of The Grove, 1195 E. Main St., Ashland, from 1 to 4 p.m., Friday, June 18, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 19. Rogue Valley Symphony: The Rogue Valley Symphony hopes to return to the stage in September 2021. Royal Affair Storytime: Local fairy tale character group Once Upon a Song has postponed its children’s “royal” storytime, previously held at Barnes and Noble, until further notice because of COVID-19 concerns. Southern Oregon Repertory Singers: The local choir has canceled all concerts through May 2021. The choir hopes that in-person concerts can resume in October or December.
