OSF's Rauch honored with leadership award
Oregon Shakespeare Festival Artistic Director Bill Rauch was among six recipients of the 2010 Theatre Communications Group Awards for excellence.
Theatre Communications Group, the national organization for professional not-for-profit theatre, presented the awards during its National Conference in Chicago in June.
The awards exist to recognize dedication to the American theatre community, and the recipients of this honor are nominated by their peers and selected by TCG's board of directors.
"I am deeply honored to be recognized by my colleagues at TCG and I feel inspired to work all the harder on behalf of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's company and audiences," Rauch said. "I am proud to work in the American theatre at such a robust time in the life of our field."
This is the second year that TCG has presented the Visionary Leadership Award.
The award is given to an individual who has "gone above and beyond the call of duty to advance the theatre field as a whole, nationally and/or internationally.
Recipients of this award are individuals who regularly think beyond their day-to-day work in order to implement practices, new models, advocacy efforts, etc. on behalf of the field," according to a TCG press release
"This prestigious award confirms what the OSF community and our audiences have learned during the three years of Bill Rauch's tenure in Ashland — that he is one of the most gifted, innovative and dedicated theater leaders in America," said James Risser, board president of OSF.
