‘The Good German’: Ashland Contemporary Theatre and Livia Genise Productions will present a staged reading of the play, “The Good German,” by David Wiltse. Set in World War II, in Germany, the play is an intense drama that explores prejudice, cultural identity, duty, patriotism and the strategies we employ to survive. Directed by Genise. Performances are set for 8 p.m. Saturday, April 13, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at Carpenter Hall on the Oregon Shakespeare Festival campus, 15 S Pioneer St., Ashland; and at 4 p.m. Friday, April 19; 8 p.m. Saturday, April 20; and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Grizzly Peak Winery, 1600 E. ‘Almost, Maine’: “Almost, Maine,” written by John Cariani, is a series of nine vignettes each featuring a different couple. On a Friday night in the middle of a long and bleak winter, the residents of the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine, explore love and loss in wonderfully awkward, unexpected and whimsical ways. New relationships blossom, hearts are both broken and mended, and love evolves in life-altering ways. Directed by Oregon Shakespeare Festival company member Annie Paul. Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, May 2-4, and May 9-11, and at 2 p.m. Sundays, May 5 and 12. Tickets are $15 for reserved, $10, or $7 for students and seniors. A preview night will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2. Tickets for the preview are $7.

‘The Dixie Swim Club’: Five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina’s Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other’s lives. As their lives unfold and the years pass, these women increasingly rely on one another to get through the challenges that life flings at them. And when fate throws a wrench into one of their lives, these friends, proving the enduring power of “teamwork,” rally around their own with the strength and love that takes this comedy in a poignant and surprising direction. Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays, April 12-28, and 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25. Tickets are $15.

‘Spotlight on Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons’: The Four Seasons is an American rock and pop band that became internationally successful in the 1960s and ’70s. Following 1970, the group became known as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. It was one of only two American bands (the other being the Beach Boys) to enjoy major chart success before, during, and after the British Invasion. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, and joined the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999. It is one of the best-selling musical groups of all time, having sold an estimated 100 million records worldwide. Camelot Theatre pays tribute to this iconic band — starring actors and vocalists Chris Hatfield, Zachary Horn, Austin Kelly and Adam Kilgore, along with its Spotlight Orchestra — playing hits including “Sherry,” “Walk Like A Man,” “Dawn,“ “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Rag Doll,” and “Bye, Bye Baby (Baby Goodbye).” Written and directed by Haley Forsyth. Music arranged by Scott Soltermann. Musical accompaniment will be provided by guitarist Taran McGuire, bassist Geo Betus, Brad Carbone on drums, and Scott Soltermann on keyboard. Curtain is at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays, through April 21. Ticketsare $20 to $36.

‘The Bridges of Madison County — The Musical’: Based on the best-selling Robert James Waller novel, “The Bridges of Madison County” traces a brief affair of two soulmates who have met too late in their respective lives in 1965. Robert Kincaid, a photographer for the National Geographic is on assignment to shoot the historic bridges of Madison County, Iowa, when he meets Francesca, an Italian war bride, whose husband and children are away on a trip. During her quest to help Robert find the last bridge for his assignment, Francesca faces memories and emotions long tamped down by the routines of life, which ultimately leads to a dilemma. Directed by Daniel Session Stephens. Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, through May 12, and at 1:30 p.m. Sundays. Tickets to all other performances are $15 to $28. An opening night gala reception on will be held beginning at 6:45 p.m. on Friday, April 12, and refreshments will be provided. The Lobby Gallery will feature the photographic works of West Christy and Gerry Katz.

‘Sherlock Holmes and the Sign of the Four’: The show is a world premiere adaptation of one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous novels, “The Sign of the Four,” told in the small cast, quick-change comedic style of recent theatrical hits such as “The 39 Steps” and “Baskerville.” Holmes and Watson are on an adventure that takes them from a prison in India to 221B Baker Street and on to the Thames for an onstage boat chase. Matt Koenig and Galen Schloming return to the Cabaret as Holmes and Watson, having previously played those roles in 2017’s “Baskerville.” They are joined by Galloway Stevens and Stephen Kline, as well as Cabaret newcomer Aryana Sedarati. Rick Robinson directs. The show opens Friday, April 12, and performances are set for 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Mondays, and 1 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, through May 26. Tickets are $25, $36 or $39.

‘Silkworms’: Set in 17th-century Italy, a group of Dominican nuns resists the oppressions of their distant male superiors, leading to a potentially fatal standoff that sparks a daring rebellion. Written by Isabel Nelson and Anne Bertram and developed by Theatre Unbound of Minneapolis, which specializes in new work by and about women. Terri McMahon directs. Performances are set for 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays May 16-18, and May 23-25, and at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 25-26, in the Black Box Theatre. Tickets are $20, $15 for seniors and $5 for full-time students.

‘Angels in America: Millennium Approaches’: Regarded by many critics as the best American play of the last 50 years, “Millennium Approaches” is the first of two plays in Tony Kushner’s epic, “Angels in America,” an eloquent, heartfelt, theatrically thrilling, surprisingly funny examination of the AIDS crisis, fraying relationships, and the soul of America during the 1980s. Directed by Jim Edmondson. Performances are set for 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, May 23 through June 1, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 1-2. Tickets are $20, $15 for seniors and $5 for full-time students.

‘As You Like It’: Two sets of identical twins, separated at birth, unknowingly begin interacting with each other’s family and friends, leading to a not-so-serious case of mistaken identities. This bilingual adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s zaniest comedies will feature intimate, actor-and-text focused performances with live music. Directed by Bill Rauch. The show runs through Oct. 26 in the Thomas Theater.

‘Hairspray — The Broadway Musical’: It’s 1962, and Baltimore teenager Tracy Turnblad lives in a world that tells her plus-sized gals shouldn’t be dancing on television and that racial segregation is here to stay. When she wins a spot on The Corny Collins Show, Tracy becomes a star and uses her newfound fame to challenge the status quo in this wildly joyful production that celebrates radical inclusion at its heart. Christopher Liam Moore directs. The show runs through Oct. 27, in the Angus Bowmer Theater.

‘Mother Road’: A powerful story about land, family and survival inspired by John Steinbeck’s “The Grapes of Wrath,” this world-premiere drama by Southern Oregon-based playwright Octavio Solis finds hard-living William Joad meeting an unexpected relative, Martin Jodes, and reversing the Joads’ mythic journey from California back to Oklahoma. Directed by Bill Rauch. The show runs through Oct. 26.

‘Cambodian Rock Band’: This epic play/rock concert thrusts us into the life of a young woman trying to piece together her family history 30 years after her father fled Cambodia. Featuring actor/musicians, playwright Lauren Yee brings to life the Cambodian rock scene of the ’60s and ’70s, a movement cut short by the Khmer Rouge’s brutal attempt to erase the music — and musicians — once and for all. Chay Yew directs. The show runs through Oct. 27, in the Thomas Theater.

‘Between Two Knees’: Sketch-comedy troupe the 1491s tell a fearless intergenerational story of familial love, loss and connection spanning the massacre at Wounded Knee, all of the World Wars so far and the 1973 takeover at Wounded Knee. Infused with the 1491s’ uninhibited and subversive approach to comedic storytelling, it takes a hard look at the impacts of systematic oppression after the point that textbooks typically stop teaching Native history. Also, its funny. Eric Ting directs. The show runs through Oct. 27, in the Thomas Theater.

‘Cattle Mutilation — The Musical’: During the Oregon Fringe Festival, Puppeteers for Fears will present its new musical, “Cattle Mutilation — The Musical,” at 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, in the Digital Media Center on the Southern Oregon University campus in Ashland, 1525 Webster St.; 7 p.m. Friday, April 26, in Diversions in Stevenson Union at SOU, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd.; and at 7 p.m. Sunday April 28, in the Music Recital Hall at SOU, 450 S. Mountain Ave. The show, with music and script by Josh Gross, is a restaging of the company’s debut feature, an irreverent take on Sasquatch and UFOs performed with custom hand-and-rod puppets and a live surf-rock band. The story follows two dueling parent-child relationships, one from Earth, and another from the Crab Nebula, and what happens when they all get mixed up on a late-night search for Bigfoot. Directed by Katy Curtis. Music will be performed by indie-rock band Derek Deon and the Vaugns. Please note that though this is a puppet show, it is not a children’s show as it features adult content Tickets are $10 or $20 at the door.

‘Shout! — The Mod Musical’: Traveling in time from 1960 to 1970, this musical chronicles the dawning liberation of women, from the rise of Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark and Cilla Black as independent women with major careers, to their American counterparts, redefining themselves in the face of changing attitudes about gender. This bright vinyl time capsule tracks 5 groovy girls as they come of age in the 60’s, and flips through the years taking you back to the music, fashion and freedom of that decade. Created by Phillip George and David Lowenstein, “Shout!” features new arrangements of such classic tunes as “To Sir with Love,” “Downtown,” “Son of a Preacher Man” and “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me.” Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays, April 19-May 5. ‘Death and Other Fallacies’: Local writer Diane Nichols will host a reading of her short comedies, collected into the work “Death And Other Fallacies” at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at the Bellview Grange, 1050 Tolman Creek Road, Ashland. The stories are a quirky and offbeat look at what happens after we’ve gone, and includes the riotous character of “Pearl E. Gates.”

Alissa Larson plays the “Green Girl,” an outside-of-the-box, free spirit. Meagan Kirby plays the “Blue Girl,” a rich, young socialite. Lauren Panter plays the “Red Girl,” the youngest and most naive of the group. BriAnna Johnson plays the “Orange Girl,” a maternal, motherly young lady who tries to guide the others through the ’60s.
