Police seek person who fired shots into air in Ashland on Sunday

Ashland Police Officers are investigating gun shots fired on Quincy Street between Wightman and California streets Sunday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the area at 9:37 a.m. for a report of shots fired from a handgun into the air from a vehicle traveling along Quincy.

Multiple witnesses indicated that the rounds were not directed at any person or structure. Officers were unable to find any damaged property or injured people.

Recklessly firing into the air is a "very dangerous practice" that can cause injury or death and is a criminal act, the police department said in a press release.

The suspect vehicle is described as a smaller, light colored (possibly primer gray) sedan in poor condition with a loud exhaust. The vehicle was occupied by two or three white males.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Ashland Police Department at 541-482-5211.
