Another 'vehicle-free Saturday' coming to Crater Lake
If you want to catch some stellar views of Crater Lake without the rumble of cars, Saturday, Sept. 27, is your last chance this year.
East Rim Drive will be closed to cars that day, allowing hikers, bikers, walkers, runners and other visitors to enjoy views without vehicle traffic. It's part of a recurring event to highlight nonmotorized use of the park. Saturday, Sept. 20 was also a vehicle-free day.
The vehicle-free section will stretch from the north junction of East Rim Drive to park headquarters. Visitors can park in a gravel lot one-quarter mile south of the park headquarters near the south entrance. Lost Creek Campground will be closed that day.
