Art Exhibit: Gregory Martin will exhibit large mixed-media assemblages and paintings exploring the "visual voice" found in neglected areas of urban civilization, in the top floor SU Gallery in the Stevenson Union Building on the Southern Oregon University campus, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 p.m. to noon Saturdays. The exhibit runs through Oct. 31.

United Nations Day at SOU: Honduran singer, feminist and activist Karla Lara will perform as part of events commemorating United Nations Day from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, in the Meese Room of the Southern Oregon University Hannon Library, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Providing the introduction and fostering a discussion will be Professor James Phillips. The event will also include a screening of the documentary: "Honduras, Crisis and Hope — An interview with Padre Melo."

Peace Documentary: There will be a free showing of the documentary film "Pray the Devil Back to Hell" at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at the Congregational United Church of Christ of Ashland, 717 Siskiyou Blvd. The film tells the story of a how women banded together to end civil war in Liberia.
