Veterans Hot Dog Lunch: American Legion Post 15 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit will serve hot dogs and sausage dogs cooked in garlic and beer free to all veterans from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 100 E. Jackson St., Medford. Condiments including sauerkraut and chips will be served. The meal will be available for $5 to those who are not veterans, and all funds raised will go to help local veterans. Southern Oregon Concert Band: The community band will present "Honor and Valor," a musical and ceremonial tribute to the veterans who have served our country, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Central Medford High School, 815 S. Oakdale Ave. The event will especially commemorate the veterans of the Vietnam War. Look for a performance of Robert W. Smith's "Mekong," marches by John Philip Sousa, a medley of American favorites by Stephen Foster, Richard Rogers' "Highlights from South Pacific" and a traditional Armed Forces Salute that will include the five services' songs. The tribute will kick off with a concert and dance party at 6 p.m. with the Martin Behnke Sextet playing jazz, big-band standards and more. Admission is by donation. Windows in Time: Historian Joe Peterson will present a history presentation "Saloons and Suffrage in Southern Oregon" at noon Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Ashland library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Hospice Memorial Event: Asante Ashland Community Hospital Hospice will hold its annual memorial event from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Ashland Community Center, 59 Winburn Way, Ashland. PHS Play Opening: Phoenix High School will hold the opening performance of its 90-minute production of William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Rose Street Theatre at Phoenix High School, 745 N. Rose St., Phoenix. The colorful production is fast-paced and set in the 1980s. Performances are at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 14-15 and 21-22. Tutunov Piano Series: Pianist Francesco Nicolosi will perform music by Scarlatti, Mozart, Liszt and Sigismund Thalbert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, in the Music Recital Hall on the Southern Oregon University campus, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Nicolosi is artistic director of the Sigismund Thalbert International Piano Competition based in Naples, Italy. He performs in famous concert halls around the globe.
