Medford's holiday season kicks off Nov. 29
The holiday season officially kicks off in Medford Saturday, Nov. 29, with a candy cane hunt, Santa, and Christmas tree lighting.
The city's parks and recreation department reported the annual Winter Lights Festival will be held in Pear Blossom Park, located at Fourth and Bartlett streets on The Commons.
The festivities kick off at 4:30 p.m. with a candy cane hunt, followed by Santa Claus's 5 p.m. arrival. He will be available for photos until 7 p.m. at Sky Oak Financial's lobby. The city Christmas tree will be lit at 6:15 p.m., followed by live music, weather-permitting.
There will also be fire engine and police car displays, jump houses and a screening of "A Charlie Brown Christmas." Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs if they want to sit to watch the show.
Additionally, there will be a coloring contest for children ages 4 to 12 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Lithia Motors headquarters building. The winner will walk away with a new bicycle.
