Raffle will aid Little Free Library projects
The Phoenix-Talent Little Free Libraries Project will sell raffle tickets for a Little Free Library on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Ray's Market in Phoenix.
Tickets are $5 each or $20 for 5 tickets. Proceeds will go toward construction and placement of six Little Free Libraries in Phoenix and Talent.
The dimensions of the Little Free Library are approximately 29 inches high, 17 inches wide and 13 inches deep.
The drawing for the Little Free Library will be held at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at the First Phoenix Community Center, 121 W. Second St.
The drawing will take place after the 6 p.m. annual lighting of the Christmas tree ceremony and caroling at the tree in downtown Phoenix. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and caroling. Refreshments will be served immediately after at the First Phoenix Community Center, where Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making an appearance, and the Little Free Library drawing will be held.
The Talent and Phoenix LFL Project is the outcome of a leadership institute sponsored by Ford Institute Leadership Program and Rural Development Initiatives that brought several residents of the two towns together to learn and improve leadership and communication skills.
The group was asked to choose a project that would benefit the two communities; their choice was Little Free Libraries, an international movement to place small book “houses” for adults and children in neighborhoods and small communities as part of a free exchange of books.
