Greystone Court's annual food drive starts Saturday
Greystone Court's annual food drive for ACCESS Inc. begins Saturday and continues through Christmas Eve. The event runs each night from 5:30 to 9:30.
Greystone Court, located off North Phoenix Road in east Medford, is well-known for its spectacular light displays. Every house in the cul-de-sac is lighted, some with animated displays.
During the food drive, the residents of Greystone Court will be out accepting donations of nonperishable food items and cash donations for ACCESS to help feed hungry people locally.
Santa will be there each night to greet the children and hand out candy canes. The Human Bean will hand out free sample cups of hot chocolate on Sunday night. Radio station NOW 93.7 will be broadcasting live at Greystone Court from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and KBOY 95.7 will be there from 5 to 7 p.m.
This is the event's 14th year. More than 4,000 cars are expected to drive through the cul-de-sac in five days. So far, community members have contributed thousands of pounds of food and more than $300,000.
Foods rich in protein are especially needed, including peanut butter, canned tuna, canned meat and beans. Other needed non-perishable food items include rice, pasta and cold and hot cereals.
