LGBT Potluck: Rogue Valley LGBT Elders and Allies will hold its monthly potluck from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, under the balcony at Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 87 Fourth St., Ashland. This month's meeting will include music by Fanda Bender and Walter Granger. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share, and a $2 suggested donation to cover the cost of drinks.

Diggin' in the Dark: The Jackson County Genealogy Library will be open from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 2405 S. Pacific Highway, Phoenix. Volunteers will be on hand to help people use genealogy library resources. Participants are encouraged to bring their known family history, and a flash drive to save the information volunteers find. SOROA Meeting: The Southern Oregon Rental Owners Association will hold its January dinner meeting at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Twin Creeks Retirement Center, 888 Twin Creeks Crossing, Central Point. Medicare 101: Linda Clarkson of the Futurity First Insurance Group of Medford will present a "Medicare 101" workshop at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the Central Point Parks and Recreation computer classroom, 155 S. Second St. The workshop will cover Medicare Part A and B, and explain options with Medicare Advantage plans and Medicare supplements. Sweet Adelines: The Southern Oregon Sound chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an a cappella chorus for women, offers lessons on vocal technique, musical accuracy and showmanship at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays at Eastwood Baptist Church, 675 N. Writers Workshop for Kids: Stories Alive will offer free writer's workshops for elementary age children from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and 1 to 3 p.m. Mondays in January at the Ashland library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. Children will craft original stories and turn them into a live production to be shown May 17 at Southern Oregon University.
