Lichen Talk: Kristi Mergenthaler of Southern Oregon Land Conservancy will present "What's to Like About Lichen?" during the Ashland Garden Club meeting at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2,  at the Ashland Community Center, 59 Winburn Way. Mergenthaler will discuss uses of lichens, including making dyes, as a food source and medicinal purposes. Refreshments are available at 11:30 a.m. Call 541-482-4558.

Spanish/English Conversation: English-speakers learning Spanish and Spanish-speakers learning English can attend a conversation hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays at the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave. Participants speak Spanish for half of the hour, and English for the second half. Stories and exercises help conversation flow. The event is free and no registration is necessary.
