Documentary about Southern Oregon University football's national championship team to screen for free

"Becoming," a documentary that tells the story of Southern Oregon's 2014 NAIA championship football team, will be shown three times this week free to the public at Ashland Street Cinema.

Seating is expected to be limited at Tuesday's 6:30 p.m. premiere. There will be another showing at 8:30 p.m., and one more at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The film runs 66 minutes long.

"Becoming" was created by Dose of Dopeness — a collective headed by Raider assistant Matt Adkins and former Raider lineman Michael Bryant. The film illustrates the makings of the championship team dating all the way back to 2011, but focuses on the 2014 team's run through the NAIA playoffs — which consisted of three straight upsets — through interviews and never-before-seen footage.

Dose of Dopeness was also responsible for the "Team of Firsts" documentary that followed SOU's record-setting 2012 football team into the NAIA quarterfinals.

On Saturday, a special 1 p.m. showing of "Becoming" for players, coaches and parents only will be preceded by a championship ring ceremony.
