Ashland's First Friday Art Walk showcases new exhiits by regional artists

New to Ashland galleries in June are oil paintings by Michael Gibson and wire sculpture by George Popa at Ashland Art Works; husband-and-wife team Robin and John Gumaelius present their comical and inventive sculptures of ceramic, steel and wood at Hanson Howard Gallery; and oil paintings by Italian artist Terry Frosini will be showcased at Adelante! Gallery.

A one-woman show by Diana Trygg will be displayed through the month at Oak Leaf Studio. Trygg creates sculpture from found objects and images — everything from hand-carved wooden figures to faux pearls — and presents singular viewpoints with each piece.

Receptions for the artists will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 1, at galleries and other venues located downtown and in the Railroad District. Pick up a gallery tour map at any of the listed galleries, the Ashland Chamber of Commerce or download one from www.ashlandgalleries.com.
