Fire destroys White City mobile home
An early-morning blaze destroyed a mobile home in a trailer park in White City today, but Jackson County Fire District 3 firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to homes on either side.
Battalion Chief Myron Harvey said no one was hurt in the fire, which was reported just before 3 a.m. at a trailer park at 3635 Antelope Road. There were initial reports that someone might have been inside, but those turned out to be false, he said. He did not know this morning who lived at the home.
The single-wide mobile home in Space 6 was engulfed with flames when firefighters arrived at 3:05 a.m., he said. Four engines responded, and crews knocked the blaze down in about 20 minutes. A tree caught on fire and an adjacent mobile home suffered some heat damage, but firefighters kept the flames from reaching that home, he said.
Fire investigators were still trying to determine the cause, Harvey said.
