Video shows Coast Guard helicopter rescue at Kissing Rock near Gold Beach
A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued a 37-year-old swimmer Friday who got stranded by the rising tide on Kissing Rock near Gold Beach.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Katelyn Shearer said the helicopter crew hoisted the man from the rock and set him down on the nearby beach Friday evening. She said he was unable to return to shore because of the surf.
The Coast Guard said the swimmer was wearing only shorts. He was not identified.
Conditions at the scene were reported to include 3-foot seas with 11 mph winds and a water temperature of 53 degrees.
The helicopter crew was flying a MH-65 Dolphin from the Coast Guard Air Station North Bend.
