Yahoo Sports reports Kyle Singler to sign $25 million NBA contract
Reporter Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports is reporting that NBA player Kyle Singler, a Medford native, has agreed to a five-year contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder for nearly $25 million.
Singler, 27, played three seasons with the Detroit Pistons before being traded to the Thunder last year. He has averaged 8.1 points and 3.4 rebounds in three seasons in the NBA.
According to Yahoo Sports, Singler's agent completed the deal with Oklahoma City general manager Sam Presti on Wednesday.
Singler led the South Medford High School Panthers to the state basketball championship in 2007, his senior year, and was named Final Four outstanding player when Duke University captured the NCAA Division I national championship in 2010. Singler remains active in the Medford community and is a major supporter of the Kids Unlimited program in the city.
Singler, who was a restricted free agent, can't sign his contract until July 9, when the league's free-agent moratorium ends, according to the Yahoo Sports report.
