Mavericks sweep Sheldon in Area 4 play
North Medford overwhelmed Sheldon and earned sweep of their American Legion A Area 4 baseball doubleheader at North Medford High on Monday.
The Mavericks (34-7-1, 16-2 Area 4) won the opener 13-3 in six innings and the nightcap, 8-2.
In Game 1, Josh Robbins scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth on a throwing error that gave Medford the victory by virtue of the 10-run mercy rule. Larson Kindreich also contributed in the frame with a sacrifice fly that plated Bennett Rodgers and made the score 13-12.
Kindreich came up with a two-run triple in the fifth inning and Dakota Adams finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.
In Game 2, Adams had a two-run double in the Mavericks’ four-run first inning. He drove in three runs while Kasey Buchanan and Justin Geyer both finished 2-for-4 with two runs. Both of Geyer’s hits were run-scoring doubles.
Zach Collins also went 2-for-3 for North Medford.
Sheldon dropped to 20-11-1 overall and 10-2 in Area 4.

SOUTH DIVISION 3, NORTH DIVISION 0: At Bellingham, Wash., the South defeated the North in the West Coast League All-Star Game.
Jake Scudder of the Kitsap Bluejackets was the most valuable player.
The Medford Rogues were represented by Dan Mayer, the WCL home run leader with eight, and Derron Davis, both outfielders. Mayer also competed in the home run derby before the game but didn't make the finals.
