UNIVERSES will provide keynote at Central Point's MLK celebration Thursday
Members of the theatrical ensemble UNIVERSES will be keynote speakers at Central Point's third annual celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The event, called "Where Do We Go From Here?" will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at the Crater Performing Arts Center, 655 N. Third St., Central Point.
The event is free, but those attending are asked to bring a nonperishable food item for donation to the Maslow Project (www.maslowproject.org).
UNIVERSES is composed of Steven Sapp, Mildred Ruiz-Sapp and William Ruiz, who wrote "Party People," produced at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in 2012 as part of its American Revolutions: United States History Cycle.
Master of ceremonies will be Matthew Reynolds, teacher at the Crater Renaissance Academy of Arts and Sciences. The event will feature art, music, and performance pieces by Central Point students and alumni, the Plain Folk singing ensemble, Rogue Valley Gospel Choir and a rebroadcast of King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
