Student art exhibits highlight Ashland Gallery Associations' First Friday art walk. Paintings, drawings, mixed media, jewelry and photography created by young artists will be displayed at Art & Soul Gallery, Ashland Art Works, Hanson Howard Gallery, Nimbus, Studio AB, Liquid Assets Wine Bar, Oak Leaf Studios, Artisan Eyeworks and Summit and Fields, as well as the Center for the Visual Arts on the Southern Oregon University campus.

High-school students Angeline Love, Sophie Birch-Bridges, Ruby Tidd, Mayla Sumner, Corrine Maddox, Kate Joss-Bradley, Marcello Romano, Jayden Becker, September St. John, Tereza Stott, Ayla Marsden, Ellie Dicker, Cedar Taulbee, Mariah Throop, Bowie Levick and Abigail Conte will be represented at galleries in Ashland's downtown and Railroad District.

At the Center for the Visual Arts, "My Campus is My Home!", a group exhibit coordinated by SOU art student Scott McCaw, will be displayed in the Retzlaff and Thorndike galleries. The exhibit addresses campus safety. "dot jpg," by Muuqi Maxwell, Trevis True and others, explores the Internet's influence on day-to-day life in the Meyer Memorial Gallery. "The Just OK Art Show," a group SOU student show, will be displayed in the Boise-Cascade Gallery, and another group show, "Dark," will celebrate artistic practice in its basic state in the Art Department Chairs Gallery.

A reception for the SOU students showing work in the Center for the Visual Arts will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 3. Refreshments will be provided, and food trucks will be at the site. The adjacent Schneider Museum of Art will provide a trolley to shuttle art enthusiasts between the SOU and downtown.

Receptions at participating downtown and Railroad District galleries will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 4. Pick up a gallery tour map at any of the listed galleries, the Ashland Chamber of Commerce or download one from www.ashlandgalleries.com.
