Gold Beach man found dead in lower Rogue
GOLD BEACH — A 34-year-old Gold Beach man apparently drowned in the lower Rogue River after walking away from a campsite early Friday morning.
According to a news release from the Curry County Sheriff’s Office, Thomas Glenn Moore was camping with his female partner, their two children and another man when he disappeared.
On Friday afternoon, sheriff’s deputies recovered Moore’s body about two miles upstream of Quosatana Creek campground, about 16 miles east of Gold Beach near Cole Riffle.
The body was discovered partially submerged between two rocks along the riverbank mid-afternoon Friday by a boater.
Moore’s companions said Moore had walked away from the campsite around 2 a.m. and they had been searching for him along Agness Road all day.
There is no evidence for a cause of death other than drowning, but an autopsy will be conducted by the Curry County medical examiner.
