Star Wars Party: Ashland Schools Foundation, Tree House Books, Whyville and Live at the Armory, are throwing a Star Wars themed party for all ages called "May The Fourth Be With You" at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the Historic Ashland Armory, 208 Oak St. Renaissance Rose is sponsoring a costume contest, so event-goers are encouraged to come as their favorite Star Wars character. The event also features face painting, a Cantina Band with a DJ playing 7 to 8 p.m., with lightsaber disco dance sessions and a photo booth that will have Star Wars character cutouts. The Robotics Club is bringing their recent robot creation, and there will be an interactive Ewok craft and a Death Star. Admission is $10 for ages 16 and older and $5 for kids ages 15 and younger. Friday, May 6

First Friday Art Walk: Galleries, studios and other art venues will stay open until 8 p.m. as they host artist receptions and present new exhibitions the first Friday of each month in Ashland. The free event features artwork, live music, artist demonstrations and refreshments. Art Exhibit: An opening reception for the Five Friends Art Group exhibit is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 6, at Weisinger Family Winery, 3150 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Tutunov Piano Series: Solo pianist Eugene Skovorodnikov will perform works by Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, in the Music Recital Hall on the Southern Oregon University campus, 405 S. Mountain Ave., Ashland. Born in Ukraine, Skovorodnikov is known for his stylistic interpretation and technical brilliance. He is a prize winner of "N. Lisenko" National Piano Competition in Ukraine. This concert is part of the Tutunov Piano Series, named after Alexander Tutunov — professor of piano and artist in residence at SOU. Benefit Concert: A benefit concert for the Southern Oregon Civic Engagement Program summer exchange trip to Guatemala is at 8 p.m. Friday, May 6, at the Rogue Valley Unitarian Church, 87 Fourth St., Ashland. Admission is $10 and the doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are sold on the SOU campus outside the Stevenson Union building, in ECOS (SU 105) and at the door. Slow Corpse, an up and coming local Ashland band, is headlining the concert.
