The Young Irelanders
The ensemble of eight performers — Damien Mullane on accordion and melodeon, Colin Farrell on fiddle and whistles, Kieran Munnelly on flute, whistles, bodhran and snare, Stephen Markham on keys and percussion, Sean O’ Meara on guitar and Lisa Canny on lead vocals, harp and banjo, along with dancers Siobhan Manson and Cathal Keaney — will present traditional Irish music, song and dance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 13, at North Medford High School, 1900 N. Keene Way Drive. The Young Irelanders set out to reflect an Ireland of today and have toured with Riverdance and Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance and shared the stage with Bono. Tickets are $25 at the door.
Southern Oregon Swing with Leonard Griffie
Blues artist Leonard Griffie and his band will perform old-school blues for dancing from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 13, at The Grove, 1195 E. Main St., Ashland. A beginning West Coast swing dance lesson will be offered at 7:30 p.m. More dancing will follow at 10 p.m. with music by DJ Dave Kahn. Admission is $10, $5 for seniors. Students get in free.
Vintage Faire in Eagle Point
The ninth annual Vintage Faire will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 14, on Royal Avenue in Eagle Point. The free fair includes artisan food vendors, local wineries, Dutch oven cooking, steam engines, antique cars, Old West photographs and images and renderings of plans to rebuild the historic Butte Creek Mill, which burned last Christmas. Other displays and activities include wood carvers, quilters, blacksmiths, hay rides and a kid zone with a jump house, water slide and other activities. Look for live music by Oregon Old-Time Fiddlers, Rewind, Bear Creek Band and Larry West.
Siskiyou de Mayo
Salsa Brava! will perform spicy Cuban music for dancing at a world music festival from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 14, in the Butler Band Shell in Lithia Park in Ashland. Celebrate multicultural music and dance. Look for Unity African Drum and Dance; Ka Pi’o O Ke Anuenue with Ha’ena; Rutendo Marimba, Maraval Road Steel Band, Salsa Brava and the Frankie Hernandez Band, in that order. T Poe and The Rogue Poets will emcee and entertain between acts. Take advantage of a free shuttle service that will pick up visitors and make stops at Bi-Mart, Southern Oregon University, The Grove, Mountain Meadows and the Ashland Plaza.
The Joker and Jester
From "America's Got Talent," "Comedy Central," The Improv and Magic Castle, duo Jake Daniels and Justin Rivera bring their comedy and magic stylings to Brickroom Gathering House, 35 N. Main St., Ashland, for a show at 9 p.m. Sunday, May 15. Admission is free.
