Customs for Kids Car Show: The Altered Vision Car Club holds its sixth annual Customs for Kids Car Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Brammo Inc., 300 W. Valley View Road, Talent. All years, makes and models of vehicles are welcome and more than 40 trophies will be awarded. Activities include raffle prizes, an auction, food vendors, a coloring contest for kids, laser tag and a bounce house obstacle course. Proceeds benefit Maslow Project, which helps homeless families and unaccompanied youth in Southern Oregon. Services help kids stay in school and complete their educations. Admission is free. Phoenix Yard, Garden and Book Sale: Participating households throughout Phoenix will take part in an annual city-wide yard sale all day on Saturday, May 14. The Phoenix Garden Club will have its annual Scholarship Fundraising Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ray's grocery store, 735 Main St. The club will have annuals, perennials, herbs, pollinator plants and more. The Friends of the Phoenix Library will hold a used book, DVD, CD and VHS tape sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Phoenix library, 510 W. First St. The First Presbyterian Church, 121 W. Siskiyou de Mayo: A world music festival will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 14, in the Butler Band Shell in Lithia Park in Ashland. Celebrate multiculture with international music and dance. Look for Unity African Drum and Dance; Ka Pi’o O Ke Anuenue with Ha’ena; Rutendo Marimba, Maraval Road Steel Band, Salsa Brava and the Frankie Hernandez Band, in that order. T Poe and The Rogue Poets will emcee and entertain between acts. Take advantage of a free shuttle service that will pick up visitors and make stops at Bi-Mart, Southern Oregon University, The Grove, Mountain Meadows and the Ashland Plaza. Mask Making Event: The All Ages Alternative Prom is Friday, May 20, and the theme is masquerade. Attend this event and make a mask from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Blue Heron Park, 4361 Bear Creek Dr., Phoenix. Admission is $5 to cover craft supply costs. All supplies will be provided and no one will be turned away.

Opus 3: The jazz trio — pianist Dave Scoggin, bassist Jeff Addicott and drummer and percussionist Matt Kriemelman — will play a mix of classic jazz, jazz standards, newer Brazilian music, gospel instrumentals and pop tunes, along with Scoggin's original compositions, at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Belle Fiore Winery, 100 Belle Fiore Lane (off Dead Indian Memorial Road), Ashland. 'A Day of Saxophone': Classical saxophonist and saxophone professor Otis Murphy at Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, in the Music Recital Hall on the Southern Oregon University campus, 405 S. Mountain Ave., Ashland. SOU faculty and saxophonist Rhett Bender will join Murphy to present composer Steve Galante's "The Pawn." Murphy's wife, Haruko, will provide piano accompaniment.
