Kayak and Paddleboard Demonstration: Northwest Outdoor Store representatives will hold a kayak and stand-up paddleboard demonstration to allow people to test out many models from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 29, near the Greensprings Spur boat ramp, 375 Old Greensprings Highway, Ashland, at Emigrant Lake. Jefferson State Choral Coalition: The choir, directed by Kirby Shaw, will present a program of music celebrating America's gospel music at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 29, in the Music Recital Hall on the Southern Oregon University campus, 405 S. Mountain Ave., Ashland. Look for guest singer Darlene Reynolds-Cooper, a former student of Shaw's. Also, the choir will be accompanied by rhythm and horn sections. Urban Sustainability: This course will teach the basics from sowing seeds to harvesting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, North Mountain Park Nature Center, 620 N. Mountain Ave., Ashland. The class will discuss annual rotation of crops, companion planting, creative and cheap DIY vertical gardening and containers.
