Small fire fills second-floor Ramada Inn guest rooms with smoke
A fire contained to a storage room filled second-floor guest rooms with smoke at the Ramada Inn in north Medford this evening.
The fire, reported at 6:15 p.m., was quickly knocked down by firefighters from Medford Fire-Rescue and Jackson County Fire District 3, according to Medford fire engineer Matt Cummings. The fire did not spread beyond the second-floor storage rooms, but smoke continued to be a problem, he said.
Firefighters are still inspecting the building and ventilating the second floor to clear out the smoke and the building at 2250 Biddle Road remained evacuated, he said. Two engines from District 3 and one from Medford responded.
Medford deputy fire marshal Tanner Fairrington said the cause is still under investigation.
