Florals, animals and abstracts fill First Friday's art walk

Acrylic paintings by Suzanne Etienne and raku ceramics by Lorene Senesac will be showcased in an exhibit titled "Vessel, Bird and Branch" during the Ashland Galleries Association's art walk, to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, in downtown Ashland and its Railroad District.

Etienne's and Senesac's collections play off their love of natural abundance, evident in the details in Senesac's bowls, wall pieces and three-dimensional art and the warm, colorful images of flowers and animals in Etienne's paintings.

"Magical Realism: Whimsical Animals," needle-felted wool sculpture by Liza Hamilton and story art by Denise Kester, will be featured at Ashland Art Center. Also look for printmaker Tiffany Hokanson in the Underground Printmaking Studio on the lower level of the art center.

"Waking Dreams," watermedia abstracts by Lynda Hoffman-Snodgrass will be displayed at Art & Soul Gallery, and floral impressions by nature photographer Leonard Lea will be displayed at Photographer's Gallery.

Look for opening receptions at participating galleries. Pick up gallery tour maps at any of the listed galleries, the Ashland Chamber of Commerce or download one from www.ashlandgalleries.com.
