Clean energy jobs topic of climate groups meeting

“Clean Energy Jobs 2018: Act Now,” a meeting exploring clean energy legislation, is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, in the large meeting room at the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave.

Southern Oregon Climate Action Now and Rogue Climate are backing a revamped version of the Oregon clean energy jobs bill that was introduced as Senate Bill 1070 by Sen. Michael Dembrow and Rep. Ken Helm, according to a media release. Dembrow and Helm are chairmen of the Senate Environment and Natural Resources Committee and House Energy and Environment Committee, respectively.

State Rep. Pam Marsh of Ashland and Sonny Mehta, organizer with Renew Oregon in Portland, a statewide clean energy advocacy coalition, will speak. Topics will include a review of the proposed Clean Energy Jobs Bill, evaluation of climate legislation in the 2017 session, and organizing strategies for the 2018 session.
