Call for Student Films: The Ashland Independent Film Festival is now accepting films made by young people, grades K through college undergraduates for the 2018 Film Festival. All film genres are accepted: animation, documentary, or narrative. Young people who live in Coos, Curry, Douglas, Jackson, Josephine or Klamath counties in Oregon, or Del Norte or Siskiyou counties in California can submit films under 5 minutes for free to AAIF’s LAUNCH Student Film Competition. All film creators who submit a film will receive two tickets to the festival, April 12-16, 2018. Winning films are screened during the festival, and the filmmaker will receive cash prizes and a pass to all AIFF films and special events. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 5, 2018. Ashland International Folk Dancers: The group meets Fridays at the Ashland Community Center, 59 Winburn Way, to perform dances from Eastern and Western Europe, Greece, Scandinavia, Israel, Turkey and the Middle East.
