Avista customers to see gas rates cut Friday
Starting Friday, local Avista Utilities customers will see their usage rates decline.
The Oregon Public Utility Commission announced Tuesday it approved rate decreases for all three of the state’s natural gas providers — Avista, NW Natural and Cascade Natural Gas Co.
The PUC approved changes for Spokane-based Avista, to reflect declining wholesale prices that will lower customer costs by more than $7.8 million, or 8.3 percent, from November 2017 rates.
Avista’s residential customers will see a 10.2 percent decrease, and costs for commercial customers will go down 8.9 percent. Industrial customers, the region’s heaviest users, will see a 16.5 percent decrease.
The PUC said residential customers using an average of 47 therms per month will see a $4.56 savings, with monthly billings falling to $50.33 from $54.89.
Avista Utilities serves more than 100,000 customers in portions of southwest and northeastern Oregon.
