Two die in separate Saturday wrecks

Jackson County sheriff’s deputies Monday identified two men who were discovered dead at the scenes of separate one-car crashes Saturday near their respective homes.

Jacob Daniel Hayes, 38, of the 7300 block of Adams Road, Talent, was found dead at 9:17 a.m., and Scott Charles White, 33, of the 5400 block of West Griffin Creek Road, died in an 11:54 p.m. crash, deputies said.

Hayes was driving a BMW sports-utility vehicle when he failed to negotiate a curve at the intersection of Adams Road and Beeson Lane, deputies said. The SUV left the roadway and overturned on an embankment, where it was discovered by a passerby at 9:17 a.m., deputies said. There were no other occupants in Hayes’ vehicle, deputies said.

While the roadway was wet at the time of the investigation, deputies did not know if weather or roadway factors contributed to the crash, deputies said.

At 11:54 p.m., deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash on the 3500 block of West Griffin Creek Road, where a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by White had crashed, deputies said.

The Silverado was headed westbound on an icy road when it crossed the eastbound lane, left the roadway, crashed into an embankment and rolled several times, deputies said.

In both cases, the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to investigate the cause and manner of their deaths, including routine toxicology reports, deputies said.
